Technical Assistance Request

This helps us understand what you are making, what is going wrong or what you want to achieve, and whether it's something we can help with.

Please do not send us your formula

Leave out complete formulas, ingredient ratios, supplier names, confidential processing conditions and cost data. If we need any of that, we'll put a Non-Disclosure Agreement in place first.

Before you start

Every question is optional. If you leave gaps, we'll call you and finish it together. Sending this form does not start a project or commit you to anything.

Test it. Know it.

Many production problems start with something nobody checked — a raw material that was off-spec, or a formula that was never properly tested.

Our lab helps you avoid that. We develop and test every Elrisa product here, including CNSL, polyols, phenolic resins and BPO paste & MEKP. Manufacturers can use the same lab to create a new formula, test a batch or fix a problem.

We are on Kasoa Bawjiase Road, opposite Omni BSCI Bank, Kasoa.

Develop

New Formulation Development

A product built from a brief: your target market, price point, performance and the raw materials you can actually buy in Ghana. You get the formula, the order of addition and the QC targets.

Flasks and bottles of samples on a lab bench
Optimise

Reformulation & Cost Reduction

Same performance, lower cost per kilogram. We rebalance surfactant systems, oil blends and fillers, and substitute imported inputs with local ones where the chemistry allows.

Cleaning and personal care products side by side
Benchmark

Competitor Benchmarking

We test a market-leading product side-by-side with yours — actives, solids, pH, viscosity, foam — so you know exactly where the gap is and what closing it costs.

Quality Control Testing

Batch release testing against your specification or the relevant Ghana Standards product requirements, with clear results you can file and share with buyers.

Stacked drums of raw materials
Qualify

Raw Material Qualification

Check a supplier's oil, caustic soda, LABSA, SLES, resin or solvent before you pay for a container of it. Catch the off-spec batch at the gate, not in production.

Sample vials ready for stability testing
Stress

Stability & Shelf-Life Testing

Accelerated ageing at elevated temperature to show how a product separates, thins, discolours or loses fragrance under tropical storage — before your customers see it.

Fix

Production Troubleshooting

Cracked soap, watery liquid soap, a paint that won't dry, a resin that won't cure. We work back from the symptom to the cause and give you the correction.

Scale

Bench-to-Batch Scale-Up

A formula that works in a beaker doesn't always work in a 1,000-litre mixer. We plan mixing order, heat and shear so it transfers — and support first production runs.

Technical Documentation

Technical data sheets, product specifications and certificates of analysis — the paperwork serious distributors and regulators ask for.

The Numbers That Decide Your Product

Choose your industry. Each test is paired with what it actually tells you — in production terms, not textbook terms.

For bar soap, liquid soap, hand wash, dishwashing liquid and detergent producers.
TestWhat it tells you
Total Fatty MatterTFMThe headline quality figure of a bar soap — it sets the grade you can legally and honestly claim on the wrapper.
Free Caustic AlkaliExcess sodium hydroxide left after saponification. Too high and the soap burns skin and damages fabric.
Free Fatty Acid & Unsaponified MatterOil that didn't react. The usual cause of greasy feel, soft bars and the orange rancid spots that appear weeks after production.
Moisture & Volatile MatterDrives cracking, shrinkage and weight loss on the shelf — and how much water you're selling at soap prices.
Chloride Contentas NaClLeftover salt from graining or thickening. Excess salt makes bars crack and "sweat" in humid weather.
Active MatterAnionic surfactant, two-phase titrationThe real cleaning strength of a liquid soap or detergent — and whether your LABSA or SLES is giving you what you paid for.
pH1% solutionSkin mildness for hand wash and body products; cleaning power and safety for laundry and dishwash.
Viscosity & Salt CurveHow thick your liquid soap is, and exactly how much salt you can add before it peaks and turns watery again.
Foam Height & StabilityWhat customers judge a product by in the first five seconds of use.
Matter Insoluble in AlcoholFillers and impurities — useful for benchmarking a competitor's bar against your own.

Need a test that isn't listed? Ask us — if we don't run it in-house, we'll tell you where it can be done.

Formulated for Ghanaian Conditions

Formulas copied from the internet are written for someone else's climate, water and suppliers. Ours start here.

Climate

Built for heat and humidity

Warehouses, shops and trucks regularly run well above 30 °C. We test for the separation, thinning, sweating and fragrance loss that only show up under tropical storage.

Raw Materials

Built around local inputs

Palm kernel oil, coconut oil, shea butter, CNSL and locally distributed surfactants vary from supplier to supplier. We formulate around what you can reliably source — and test it when it arrives.

Water

Built for the water your customers use

Borehole and well water in many communities is harder than treated supply. Detergent and soap performance is checked with that in mind, not just in distilled water.

Cost

Built for the cedi

When import prices move, formulas need to move with them. We help you cut dependence on imported inputs without cutting quality — the same principle behind every Elrisa product.

Questions Makers Ask Us

Where is your laboratory?

Our laboratory is on Kasoa Bawjiase Road, opposite Omni BSCI Bank, in Kasoa, Central Region. Call +233 55 639 5946 before you visit so a chemist is free to meet you.

Do you do laboratory testing for businesses outside Kasoa?

Yes. We work with manufacturers across Ghana, including Accra, Tema, Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast and the northern regions. Start with a call or the request form, and when samples are needed we will agree how to get them to the lab safely.

What laboratory tests do you offer?

For soaps and detergents: total fatty matter (TFM), free caustic alkali, free fatty acid, moisture, chloride, active matter, pH, viscosity and foam. For oils and raw materials: saponification value, acid value, iodine value, moisture, caustic soda assay and LABSA/SLES activity. For paints and adhesives: solids, viscosity, density, pH, drying time and storage stability. For resins and polyols: gel time, active oxygen, hydroxyl value, acid value and moisture.

Can you develop a liquid soap or dishwashing liquid formula for my business?

Yes. We develop liquid soap, hand wash, dishwashing liquid and multipurpose cleaner formulas around your target price, the raw materials you can source in Ghana (LABSA, SLES, caustic soda, salt, thickeners, fragrance, colour, preservative), and the thickness, foam and appearance your customers expect. You receive the formula, mixing procedure and quality control targets.

Why is my bar soap cracking, sweating or developing orange spots?

Cracking is usually linked to low moisture, excess salt (chloride) or an unbalanced oil blend. Sweating often comes from excess glycerine or salt drawing in humidity. Orange spots (rancidity) are typically caused by unsaponified oil, high free fatty acid or highly unsaturated oils oxidising. Testing total fatty matter, free alkali, free fatty acid, moisture and chloride usually identifies the cause — send us a bar.

Can you test my raw materials before I buy in bulk?

Yes. We check incoming raw materials such as palm kernel oil, coconut oil, shea butter, caustic soda, LABSA and resins against the specification you are paying for — for example saponification value, acid value, moisture, active content and density — so you know a batch is right before it enters production.

Is my formula kept confidential?

Yes. Client formulations and test results are treated as confidential, and we are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share any formula or sample.

Do you only work with large manufacturers?

No. We work with small and growing producers as well as established factories — from a soap maker producing in drums to a plant running tonnes per day. The work is scoped to the problem you actually have.

Can you help me prepare for Ghana Standards Authority or FDA product requirements?

We can test your product against the parameters in the relevant product standard and tell you where it stands before you submit to the regulator, so there are no surprises. Formal certification itself is issued by the regulator.
